The Hive
This attraction is the first of its kind in the world! This two-person tube slide sends riders through two massive beehive-shaped helixes, hitting extreme positive G-forces as you fly through 720 degree helixes.
Celebrating the Zoo’s pollinator conservation efforts, The Hive highlights the Zoo’s on-grounds efforts to support pollinator gardens and native prairie growth, by adding more than 11 acres of prairie to the Zoo property.
Captina Falls
This one is also the only waterslide of its kind in the world! Race a friend head-first on mats through enclosed tubes, rally points, and high speed turns on the only RallyRACER with FlyingSAUCER 8’S in the entire world!
The ride is named after the Zoo’s conservation efforts at increasing the population of the endangered Eastern hellbender in the wild in Captina Creek in eastern Ohio, along with other waterways.
The Zoo will also be paying homage to this work as they open the new Ohio Center for Wildlife Conservationm. Located in the brand-new North America Trek region, this will feature the Eastern hellbender and its conservation story. The Wilds will be opening its brand-new Hellbender RV Campground, further expanding accommodations at this amazing conservation facility.
Mussel Mayhem
The first of its kind in the Midwest, this is the longest slide attraction, clocking in at 30 seconds. Riders will be face-to-face in a two-person tube, as they turn 180 degrees in 2 halfpipe cutbacks and go through 2 mini-tunnels.
The ride is named to honor the preservation of freshwater mussels. The Watters Aquatic Conservation Center, located across the Scioto River from the Columbus Zoo and Zoombezi Bay, is a facility dedicated to the study and preservation of freshwater mussels and other aquatic organisms. The Zoo has been part of the multi-organization partnership with the facility since 2002 to help mitigate population decline.
