Think your older kids may enjoy the sport of curling? Columbus Curling Club offers a Junior Curling program for anyone under the age of 22 who wants to learn to curl and is able to maneuver a 44 pound rock of granite on the ice.
Generally the starting age for juniors is between 11 and 12 years depending on the student’s size and athletic ability. Juniors can drop in during Saturday sessions from 2:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m. for just $10. Register online for open sessions before they fill up. There are memberships and leagues for youth once they have the desire and skill level to compete.
Have younger kids? Sign them up for the Little Tykes Curling with Columbus Curling Club when a new session opens up! There’s a mailing list so you can be notified when sessions open up.
All children participating will need to wear a helmet. Bicycle or ski helmets work well. Other head protection made specifically to reduce head injury would also be acceptable. Clean rubber soled athletic shoes are needed to be on the ice.
Want to learn to curl yourself? Sign up for one of the upcoming Learn to Curl Clinics for adults. These sessions are very popular (and reportedly tons of fun!), so register early so you have enough spots for your friends!
