Ever wonder why Porgs were created for The Last Jedi? Or which real-life animal served as inspiration for the Bantha? Learn about the creatures of Star Wars and the real-life animals that inspired them in this staff-led talk.
Star Wars Trivia Challenge! • 11-11:30 a.m. & 3-3:30 p.m.
Do you know everything about Star Wars? Test your galactic knowledge in our trivia competition!
Kenner Toys & Star Wars • Noon-12:30 p.m.
Could you imagine Star Wars without the toys? Join us as we take a look at how Kenner Products, a small toy company from Cincinnati, got the first rights to produce Star Warstoys – and learn about some of the quirky toys they produced!
Gender, Race, Ethnicity and Artificial Intelligence in Star Wars • 12:30-1 p.m.
How has the representation of women and minorities evolved throughout the Star Warssaga? What is the role of artificial intelligence in works of science fiction? How can we analyze these portrayals in modern storytelling? Join guest speaker Juan Eduardo Contreras Barberena, lecturer at the University of Akron School of Communication, as he tackles these questions and more.
Pew Pew! World War I Weapons in the Star Wars Universe • 1-1:30 p.m.
Did you know that Han Solo and Jyn Erso’s blasters were based on real handguns from World War I? Join a museum staff member to learn how the Star Wars design team drew weapons inspiration from this real-life conflict.
Star Wars Video Game Room • 1-4 p.m.
