On Pause: Sensory Friendly Films at Gateway Film Center

Gateway Film Center wants to make it easier for families and individuals with autism and developmental disabilities to enjoy a trip to the movies with FREE Sensory Friendly Films.

Screenings are played at a lower volume and the lights are kept up. It’s an inclusive environment that encourages expression and prohibits “shushing”. There won’t be any ads or previews, and devices are permitted. You can also bring in outside food and drink, but popcorn is FREE for those attending the screening.

Tickets to the Sensory Friendly Screenings are free and are presented in conjunction with The Ohio State University Nisonger Center. Arrive early for a craft 30 minutes ahead of the film. Pick up a BINGO card available for those who come back more than once to earn a special ‘thank you!’. Check out the schedule below!

Sensory Friendly Films

Movies are always the 3rd Saturday of the month at 11 am.

March 21 – Shaun the Sheep Movie (2015)
April 18 – Space Jam (1996)

Parking is easy and cheap in the garage located right next door to the cinema on both 9th and 11th avenues. To validate your parking, purchase a single exit voucher at the film center box office. The $2 validation is good until 4:00 am in the garage.
