This holiday season, COSI invites you to experience the joy and wonder of the holidays through two remarkable events. On November 17, the Capitol Christmas Tree makes a special stop at COSI. Witness the grand tree en route to Washington D.C.
On November 23, the museum unveils its Season of Celebrations, a captivating exhibit blending holiday magic with interactive science displays.
The Capitol Christmas Tree Stop
On November 17, 2024 from 1-3 p.m., the Capitol Christmas Tree will make a stop at COSI on its journey to Washington D.C.
Join COSI President Dr. Frederic Bertley, along with partners like the U.S. Forest Service and the Ohio Department of Natural Resources, for a memorable event as this historic tree arrives in Columbus.
Season of Celebrations at COSI Transforms Museum into a Winter Wonderland
COSI will transform into a season wonder starting Saturday, November 23, 2024, when the Season of Celebrations exhibit opens.
Guests will enjoy a seasonal blend of science, holiday spirit, and community connection in a spectacular winter wonderland. Check out the 40-foot tree in COSI’s Atrium, surrounded by a forest of 50 community-decorated trees and 10 COSI exhibit-themed trees.
Community Spirit Through Decorated Trees
At the heart of Season of Celebrations are 50 trees decorated by local schools, nonprofits, and organizations. Each tree tells a unique story of the Columbus community. As visitors walk through this forest of creativity, they can learn about each group’s mission while enjoying the festive display.
The museum will also feature decorated spaces throughout, including a holiday transformation of the Progress exhibit, where roving actors bring to life the holiday traditions of 1898 and 1962 from noon to 4 p.m. each day.
Interactive exhibits
The 2024 exhibit adds new interactive features, such as a Build A Snowman activity in the Community Forest and a Frozen Chess set in Big Science Park. Favorites like the Ocean exhibit will be enhanced with icy décor and penguins, making this year’s experience truly immersive.
In addition to dazzling displays, Season of Celebrations will feature holiday-themed science demonstrations and hands-on activities designed to connect the festive season with the wonders of science and technology.
Don’t miss the chance to experience Season of Celebrations, a magical exhibit that blends festive fun with educational exploration at COSI through January 5, 2025.
