Discover more about Ohio’s heritage during Ohio Open Doors, when historic buildings and landmarks throughout Ohio invite you to open the door and explore with special tours and events.
From Friday, September 6 through Sunday, September 15, 2024, organizations are hosting events in communities all across the Buckeye State.
Highlights include the beautifully restored Thomas J. Moyer Ohio Judicial Center in Columbus, the preserved White Water Shaker Village in Harrison, and the home of abolitionist Wilson Bruce Evans in Oberlin.
These events are free and often one-day-only opportunities, making it a unique chance to dive into Ohio’s rich heritage.
Ohio Open Doors was launched in 2016 to celebrate Ohio’s history and the 50th anniversary of the National Historic Preservation Act. The program aims to foster pride in Ohio’s heritage by showcasing landmarks and historic places that have shaped the state.
Partner organizations include the Ohio Arts Council, TourismOhio, the Ohio Travel Association and Heritage Ohio.
