The Columbus Zoo and Aquarium announced today that 5 month old Nora, the polar bear cub, will make her appearance tomorrow – Friday, April 15 at 9:30 am in the polar bear habitat at Polar Frontier for one hour. She will be in the habitat every day thereafter for about one hour (depending on well-being) beginning at 9:30 am, with times increasing as she grows bigger and stronger.
Nora has been mostly hand-reared by Zoo staff, as the cub’s mother wasn’t caring for her as closely as necessary when she was a newborn. Born at 1 lb., she has grown to nearly 50 lbs in these months, with round the clock care from Zoo caregivers.
While Nora is already a star, with a large social media following of her videos, and people from 115 countries chiming in to help name her, its time for her to meet her local followers in public. It’s going to be an amazing spring weekend in Columbus, so it’s a great chance to head to the Zoo and be one of the first to see this adorable polar bear.
