If your kids love trucks, safety vehicles, and heavy equipment, don’t miss the New Albany Touch a Truck!
Head to the New Albany Public Service Department on Saturday, August 24, 2024 from 10 am – noon. Kids will explore their favorite vehicles including fire engines, police cars, snow plows, leaf collection trucks, street sweepers, trash trucks, hauling trucks and even the sewer camera truck.
There is a special sensory-friendly hour from 9 am – 10 am with no horns or sirens. The general public is welcome from 10 a.m. to noon.
Activities are located inside the service department for a chance to get out of the heat and do some coloring pages. Hop in line for Ident-a-Kid, the New Albany Police Department’s child identity program with pictures, stats, and child fingerprinting.
Police officers, firefighters, and public service department employees will be hanging out so kids can talk to them and ask questions. Plain Township’s Fire Safety House is typically on site to help residents devise exit strategies from smoke-filled homes.
After all of the exploring, stop by the food tent for free hot dogs, chips, and water.
This is our favorite touch-a-truck event because there are so many vehicles available, and there is lots of room for kids to run around without it feeling too crowded.
The event is held rain or shine; there are trucks inside the services bays to check out if its raining.
