The City of New Albany celebrates our planet with events from Earth Day to Arbor Day from April 22-26, 2025. 

Activities include a variety of activities for everyone who wants to help make our community greener.

New Albany Earth Day to Arbor Day events

Become a Green Guardian!

Earth Day, April 22, from 5:30 – 6:30 p.m. at the Heit Center.
Student and adult volunteers are needed to help keep community events clean and green by ensuring compost, recycling, and trash go in the right receptacles. Attend the Green Guardians training session on April 22. Although RSVPs are not required, they are appreciated.

Arbor Day Proclamation & Tree Planting

Arbor Day, April 25 at 9:30 am at Rose Run Park
Celebrate Arbor Day to recognize the importance of trees in our community! This special event will feature an official Arbor Day proclamation, followed by local students planting over 300 trees to help grow our urban canopy.

E-Waste, Household Hazardous Waste Drop-Off & Paper Shredding Event

Saturday, April 26 from 8 a.m. – 12 p.m. at Public Service Complex, 7800 Bevelhymer Rd.

Dispose of your e-waste and household hazardous waste at the New Albany Service Center. Click here for household hazardous waste guidelines.

National Prescription Drug Take Back Day

Saturday, April 26th, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Plain Township Fire Department.
Safely dispose of unused medications and help protect our waterways and environment. Can’t make the event? Drop off medications year-round at the NAPD lobby.

Nature Exploration Day

May 1 from 6-7:30 p.m. at Taylor Farm Park
Wrap up the celebration from Earth Day to Arbor Day with Nature Exploration Day! Meet friendly farm animals at the petting zoo, plant seeds in the Community Garden, and learn about native plants. Kids can also embark on a fun scavenger hunt with prizes!

This free, family-friendly event is presented by the City of New Albany, COSI, and New Albany-Plain Local Schools. Due to limited parking, please consider walking, biking, or ridesharing. We hope to see you there!
