National Frozen Yogurt Day is February 6! Celebrate with a sweet treat!

Frozen yogurt in February? Sure…why not? After all, National Frozen Yogurt Day is February 6, so who are we to argue with a National “holiday”? 

It’s like breakfast yogurt – but frozen – and better – with toppings.

Fro-yo v. Ice Cream

What is the difference between frozen yogurt and ice cream? Ice cream must have a minimum of 10% milkfat and, to meet the legal requirement, cream is typically added in the process. On the other side, there is no minimum fat requirement for frozen yogurt. The sweet stuff is made from cultured milk instead of cream.

Frozen yogurt often has more sugar than ice cream. However, it also typically has fewer calories and a lower fat content. Neither dessert option would necessarily count as “healthy,” especially since the probiotic benefits of yogurt are lost in the freezing process.  

However, who needs healthy when it’s so creamy and delicious? It may be cold outside, but these fro-yo specials will give you the warm in fuzzies inside.
