This holiday season, Columbus is joining cities around the world by hosting the unique Light the World Giving Machines at Polaris Fashion Place! These machines make it easy to give back to people in need, both in central Ohio and across the globe, with a quick tap of a card.
Giving Machines Launch
The launch event kicks off at noon on November 15, 2024, with Coach Jim Tressel emceeing and local charity representatives sharing their stories. The machines will be available through December 7.
How does the progam work?
Imagine vending machines where, instead of buying snacks, you’re purchasing essentials like meals, shelter, healthcare, and education for those who need it most.
Giving Machines make donating simple and instant: just choose a cause, swipe your card, and know that 100% of what you give goes straight to a charity. The machines, part of the #LightTheWorld campaign by the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, have raised over $32 million since they started in 2017. Last year alone, around 600,000 people donated, and in 2024, Giving Machines will be in more than 100 cities worldwide.
Columbus Charities You Can Support
The Giving Machines at Polaris support both local organizations and global charities, so you can make a difference here at home and around the world. Here’s a look at who you can help:
