Story time at the library was one of my favorite things to do to get out of the house with my toddlers. They learned so many songs and games at story time, and it allowed them to interact with kids their age.
It’s also a great way for kids who don’t go to preschool or daycare to learn appropriate social interaction with others. Learning to sit still during stories and instilling a love of books are a bonus.
Most branches have evening and/or Saturday story times, so even if you work a full-time job, there may be times that work for you.
Story times are held nearly every day and some evenings, so you can easily find a story time near you when you need to get out of the house.
Some libraries schedule their story time programming as 4 weeks on, 2 weeks off, so click on the links to verify that the programming is scheduled for that day, even if you’ve attended before at a certain time. Check holiday closure times as well.
Are your kids “too old” for storytime? Libraries offer programming for ALL ages, including tech/STEM programs, tutoring/study groups, book clubs, video game events, movies, and more!
