Want to curl like the Olympians? Curling is always a huge hit at the Winter Olympics, and everyone wants to learn how to do it!
It may look simple, but there is definitely technique and strategy to it. The good news is that anyone can learn at Columbus Curling Club (just don’t make plans for the Olympics – yet).
The Columbus Curling Club is open for leagues, clinics, youth programs, and all of the curling fun in Central Ohio.
Learn to Curl Clinics
The Columbus Curling Club offers two hour Learn to Curl clinics for $60! All you need is clean tennis shoes – they provide the rest.
Clinics consists of 15 minutes of off-ice instruction, about 50 minutes learning how to sweep and deliver stones, then it’s off to play a couple of ends of a game.
Stick around after the clinic for ‘broomstacking’ (socializing) in the warm room.
Curling is appropriate for all ages 12+ (under age 18 require a liability waiver), all levels of fitness, and is even wheelchair accessible -anyone can learn to curl! There’s plenty of room for spectators to watch too.
Clinic registration is available now, and they are regularly adding more. Spots fill up very quickly, so book ASAP.
If clinics are full, click here to see if more sessions have been added! Or sign up for their newsletter to see when additional sessions are added. You can also buy gift certificates that can be used once new sessions open up!
If you have a larger group of people or would like to have a curling party for up to 24 people, they have private instruction and rental options as well.
Adult Instructional League
Have you participated in a Learn to Curl Clinic previously and want to develop your skills? The Instructional League is a five class course where you’ll work on your technique. It’s the perfect way to prepare for league play if you are interested in continuing.
Each two hour session starts with delivery drills aimed to improve balance and alignment, then the group breaks into teams to play several ends of a game. You will have an opportunity to play the various positions of lead, second, vice-skip, and skip. Instructional League meets for five weeks.
Prerequisite: Previous participant in a Learn to Curl Clinic, Corporate, Social or Member Outing or previous curling experience. Please register for a Learn to Curl Clinic if you have never been on curling ice before.
