It’s a Leap Year, which means you get an extra day this month for Leap Day on February 29!
Leap year occurs to address the discrepancy between our calendar system and the Earth’s orbit around the sun. The Earth takes approximately 365.2422 days to complete one orbit. To keep our calendar year in sync with this astronomical reality, an extra day is added to the calendar approximately every four years.
Some say “what happens on Leap Day stays on Leap Day” (real life is for March!) . Some say it’s opposite day. Others say its an unlucky year. But there are always fun and whimsical ways to celebrate, from movie or tv screenings, beer and wine tastings, and family events.
