Thanksgiving is coming up, and sometimes it’s nice to outsource some of the cooking! Need just a turkey or some pies? The Fry Out Cancer Thanksgiving fundraiser is an amazing cause that can put food on your table, as well as families in need (all while fighting cancer!).
Fry Out Cancer has been raising money for cancer research, fighting hunger, and increasing volunteerism in Central Ohio by frying turkeys on Thanksgiving Day since 2014.
What started as a one-man grassroots fundraiser has turned into a multi-day event that feeds thousands of people on Thanksgiving Day. The event raises tens of thousands of dollars for cancer research at The Ohio State University Comprehensive Cancer Center James Cancer Hospital.
There are multiple ways to support the organization.
Fry Out Cancer
Place reservation for a deep-fried Thanksgiving turkey by making a minimum $150 donation to The James. You’ll pick up your ready-to-eat turkey on Thanksgiving Day.
Beginning on October 7, previous donors may begin making reservations. New donors may begin making reservations on October 21. These always sell out!!
Pie Out Cancer
Donors also have the option of reserving a 9″ apple pie or pumpkin pie with a minimum donation of $25. All pies are prepared by culinary partners at Columbus State Community College.
Sponsor a turkey
For a minimum suggested donation of $50, you can sponsor a roasted turkey for a family in need. They hope to have 400 turkeys sponsored. These will be sent to area shelters that feed families in need on Thanksgiving.
These will be sent to iResolve Family Fitness, the YWCA Family Center, Community Shelter Board, New Albany Food Pantry, Hilltop Community Worship Center, Catholic Social Services, The Food Soldier, Star House, LSS Choices, Kaleidoscope Youth Center, Community Development for All People, Ronald McDonald House, and Faith Mission.
Volunteer
There are still spots available for assisting with the prep, cooking, delivery, and cleanup for the event during the week of, and on Thanksgiving Day. Sign up here.
