Visiting the landfill may not have been on your to-do list, but maybe it should be! I’ve been told that SWACO landfill tours are REALLY cool.

What to expect on a Landfill Tour

Public tours start with a presentation inside of the SWACO Education and Resource Center. Learn how the landfill is maintained and also how we can all work together to extend the life expectancy of the Franklin County Sanitary Landfill by diverting materials.

Throughout the tour, the guide will give suggestions and answer any diversion (recycling, reuse, reduction and composting questions) and questions related to SWACO and the Franklin County Sanitary Landfill. After the presentation, the group will then go on an in-vehicle tour of the Franklin County Sanitary landfill to see what what you learned in the presentation.
