Family Holiday events at Slate Run Farm

Programs at Slate Run Historical Farm and other Metro Parks are cancelled for 2020.

Slate Run Historical Farm is hosting FREE family-friendly holiday events at the farm through November and December.  These fun activities will get you out of the house and in the holiday spirit as you learn about life on a historical farm.

Turkeys, Traditions and Thanksgiving: November 23-24 from 1-3 pm.
Learn about some holiday customs including the use of corn, pumpkins and other foods, and the butchering of the turkey at the Farmhouse. All Ages.

Indoor Amusements: November 29-30 from 1-3 pm.
It’ll be a long, cold winter, so having new ways to entertain your family indoors is always a good thing.  Try some indoor games and toys, and challenge your mind with 19th century puzzles. Registration not required. All Ages.

Christmas is Coming: December 7 from 1-3 pm. 
Help decorate the farmhouse in Victorian style. String popcorn, and make an ornament to decorate our tree, or take it home for your own.

‘Tis the Season: December 21 and 22 from 1-3 pm. 
Take a break from the holiday bustle with a quiet stroll around the farm for the ‘Tis the Season program. String popcorn and make an ornament to take home.

Holiday Break Workday: December 27 from 1-3 pm
Help with farm chores, visit the animals and warm up next to the woodstove at the farmhouse.
