Westerville Fire Prevention Week Open House
This free community event features family-friendly activities, demonstrations from firefighters and the opportunity to get close to WFD equipment on October 6 from 1 pm – 4 pm.
The theme for this Fire Prevention Week is “Smoke alarms: Make them work for you!™”. The message aims to educate everyone about the importance of having working smoke alarms in the home.
Learn more about how fire fighters function day to day at their stations and with their equipment. This free event will feature inflatables, food and giveaways. Free youth bike helmets will also be distributed, while supplies last.

Need new fire alarms?
The Westerville Division of Fire is partnering with the American Red Cross to offer free smoke detectors and installation for Westerville and Blendon Township families. You call, they’ll install. If your in-home smoke detectors are more than 10 years old, they need to be replaced!
Call (614) 901-6600 to schedule your appointment and a Westerville Fire Division team member will visit your home to install your brand new smoke detector free of charge.
Schedule your smoke detector appointment, and ask for a free, in-home fire safety inspection. A WFD representative will assess your home for fire risks and make recommendations to help protect your home and family. Details here.
Not in Westerville?
If you live outside of those townships and you are in need of working smoke detectors or installation, please contact your local fire department to see if they have a program that can help.
