2 Musicians, 11 Instruments, 8 Musical Styles
Creative. Versatile. Multi-talented. Downright fun. How else to describe the duo Gaines and Wagoner, who will stage a virtual concert for the Columbus Folk Music Society on Saturday, November 28 at 7 p.m.
After all, the Wisconsin-based husband and wife team play and sing so many musical styles: blues, jazz, country, bluegrass, rock, honky-tonk, old-time, and Americana. Plus, they do it while plucking or strumming fiddle, cello, bass, accordion, mandolin, ukulele, guitar, and more.
Whether it’s a fast-paced instrumental country hoedown, a sweet original song featuring their intertwining voices, or the rough-edged St. James Infirmary Blues, Mary Gaines and Chris Wagoner do it all, with flare. Plus, they add some fun story-telling. As their website accurately declares: “This is not one-size-fits-all music.”
The award-winning duo will present their live November 28 concert on the Facebook page of the Columbus Folk Music Society. This link will connect you: https://www.facebook.com/280420671020/live/
In appreciation of the music, viewers will be able to make contributions. We’ll provide links to do that during the show. The suggested donation is $15 for the general public, $10 for CFMS members.
