Movies at the Dam and Fishing with Rangers with U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and SACCA

The Central Ohio U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) and Scioto Area Corps Cooperating Association (SACCA) hosts events throughout the year at the Dams in Central Ohio.

SACCA support the mission, priorities and vision of the Central Ohio U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) through fundraising and and investing those funds in the best interest of the community in utilizing the benefits of US Army Corps of Engineers Parks and Programs.

Storytime & Crafts at the Creek

Head to the Alum Creek Lake Visitor Center every other Monday (excluding federal holidays) story and craft time. Best for preschool/kindergarten ages but all are welcome!

Just Another Dam Race and Fun Run on top of Alum Creek Dam

May 25, 2024 at 9 am – 12:00 pm
The 3rd annual 5K Dam Race and 1 Mile Fun Run! will be entirely on top of the Alum Creek Dam and wooded trails but benefit all six (6) Corps dams parks. It will kick off from the south section of the Alum Creek State Park Beach parking lot at 8:00 AM
Race Day Timeline 7:00 AM – Race day check-in and registration (registration available while spots remain) begins at 7:55 AM – The 1 Mile Fun Run/Walk steps off at 8:00 AM – The 5K Run/Walk is underway

Movies at the Dam

Grab your chairs, blankets and the popcorn! It’s Movies at the Dam. Join the Alum Creek Park Rangers and our partners, SACCA, for some fun filled summer nights in the Below Dam Recreation Area.

June 15, 2024: Black Panther @ 9:30pm
July 27, 2024: Barbie @ 9:30pm
August 17, 2024: Wonder Park @ 9pm
September 21, 2024: Migration @8pm

Concessions will be available through SACCA, all proceeds go to improving the recreation areas at Alum Creek!

Alum Creek Dam Tours

Join the US Army Corps of Engineers for a behind-the-scenes Dam Tour to learn the history, how it was constructed, and its purpose.

Tours are May – September, most Saturdays and Sundays at Noon – 1 p.m. and 5 p.m. – 6 p.m.

Bonus tours are available on Memorial Day and Independence Day. Tours require climbing 100+ steps. Recommended for ages 6+. The cost is free!

Alum Creek Dam is located at 4189 Lewis Center Rd, Lewis Center, OH 43035. (Meet in the Below the Dam Recreation area)

Fishing with a Park Ranger

Bring the whole family to go fishing at Alum Creek! Learn about what types of fish live in Alum Creek Lake & get some fishing tips from a ranger. Beginners are welcome! Come learn how to bait a hook and cast.

The event is family friendly. Fishing rods and bait will be available for use. Participants 16 yrs and older must present an annual or day fishing license.
