Witches on the water for the Columbus Witches Paddle (Warlocks welcome!)

The Scioto River may look a little spooky this Sunday when the witches hit the river for the 2024 Columbus Witches Paddle! The Wicked Witch of the West may melt in water, but these witches of the Midwest aren’t afraid of water!

Got a paddleboard? Anyone is welcome to join – witch or warlock!

Come in costume and bring your board of Saturday, October 19, 2024 at 10 a.m. to paddle the Scioto River in Downtown Columbus.

The group will meet at the ramp just north of the Main St bridge, on the Bicentennial Park side of the river. They plan to paddle upstream and back to the get out at the same spot.

Don’t have a witches costume laying around? Improvise! They suggest that black plastic table clothes (find these at the dollar store) work well for short capes. Hats with ties will keep them from blowing away. 

Who is the group behind the Witch Paddle?

The group formed with a few women from Bexley who started paddleboarding together in 2019. They went on the first Witch Paddle that year, and have been paddling and exploring around the Columbus area ever since, calling themselves The Paddlebroads.

 

If your into paddleboarding, this is a great opportunity to meet like-minded people in a fun, lighthearted atmosphere and some Halloween spirit.

Not into paddling? You may just want to venture downtown this Sunday and see the witches on water.
