The Blue Jackets GOAL! program powered by Performance Columbus is designed for boys and girls, ages 5-9, with no prior hockey experience to try street or ice hockey for free.

These clinics introduce the exciting sport of ice hockey or street hockey in a fun, safe environment. No equipment necessary.

Through GOAL!, the Blue Jackets aim to remove barriers of entry to the sport and offer children the opportunity to experience the excitement of hockey without the time commitment or cost of purchasing equipment.

Blue Jackets GOAL Ice Hockey Sessions

During each 30 minute session, GOAL! teaches the basic skills of hockey including stickhandling, passing and shooting.

Participants will receive on-ice instruction by USA Hockey certified coaches, free skate rental, an ice hockey stick, winter gloves, and a Blue Jackets GOAL! jersey to keep.

Participants should bring a helmet from home (bike helmet is acceptable) along with a pair of winter or hockey gloves. A limited number of helmets and gloves will be available at each session. No hockey equipment required.

Basic skating experience is recommended, but it is designed as a first experience with hockey for those who haven’t participated in a hockey program.

Sessions are limited to the first 50 participants. Experienced skaters should check out the Blue Jackets Learn to Play Program, which provides free equipment along with 6 weeks of lessons.

Blue Jackets GOAL! Street Hockey Sessions

Launched in 2018, the Blue Jackets have introduced 3,200+ kids to hockey through introductory street and ice hockey clinics. The organization aims to remove barriers to the game, and street hockey sessions were a perfect addition.

All a kid needs is a pair of sneakers to experience the excitement of street hockey!

Each 30 minute clinic teaches age-appropriate instruction on the basic skills for street hockey from USA Hockey certified coaches. Free registration includes a free Blue Jackets shirt, street hockey stick and ball to use during the clinic and keep, as well as a “Next Step” parent guide. 

Participants should wear sneakers/athletic shoes and clothing appropriate for the weather conditions. No hockey equipment required. Children can wear equipment or helmet if preferred.
