Buckeye Lake Pirate Festival brings treasures and treasure hunters to the lake

Ahoy! The Pirate Festival is coming to Buckeye Lake! Pirates, Mermaids & Steampunk fans and the public are invited for a Treasure Hunt by Land and Sea, and a family friendly Pirate Marketplace.

The first annual PirateFest is at Buckeye Lake on Saturday, May 18, 2024. It opens in the Village of Buckeye Lake at 5 pm on Friday, May 17, 2024 with a ribbon cutting and a sneak peak of the Pirate Marketplace.

Port Royal Pirate Trade Show Marketplace

Saturday, May 18 from 11 am – 5 p at Harbor Community Center at 5312 Walnut Road, Buckeye Lake, Ohio. Features over 60 vendors and free family & children’s’ entertainment throughout the day.

The Northern Exposure Landship (Ripley’s) “World’s Tallest ArrVee” will be ‘docked’ in front of the Pirate Marketplace. A portion of the Marketplace Tradeshow proceeds will benefit the Harbor Community Center.

Treasure Hunt by Land & Sea

On Saturday, pick up your special Treasure Hunt Maps available at Port Royal and 40 participating businesses (while supplies last). The Maps will list area locations where adults may enter a drawing to win a Treasure Chest along with contents valued at $150+; no purchase is necessary.

Guests with boat access can reach 20/40 locations by boat, but all are accessible by land for land-bound pirates. (it’ll be a busy day on the lake, so if you’re bringing a boat, get to the docks early!) See participating businesses. 

There are 40 Treasure Chests (one for each participating business) that will be given away on the following day.

Special Events Tours

Select businesses are hosting Special Event Tours with mini-hunts. 

These Treasure Hunt Tours include a “Steampunk Whistle Stop Tour”, “Shop and Dine with a Mermaid” as well as tours for watercrafts: Kayaks and Stand-Up Paddleboards, pontoon boats, Sea-Doo Switch & Sea-Doo personal watercrafts and other vehicles including: golf cars, motorcycles, Side-by-Sides (ATVs), Jeeps, and Trucks.
