The Billy Ireland Cartoon Library & Museum at The Ohio State University is an amazing FREE resource for cartoon and comic fans. Not only do they hold the largest collections of cartoon and comic material, they also offer programming throughout the year. And did I mention it’s FREE?! So go check it out during open hours or for an event.
On Friday, February 9 from 5-7 p.m., The Billy Ireland Cartoon Library & Museum is hosting Cartoon Couture: Exhibit Reception and Costume Party! The fashion-forward celebration and reception is for current exhibit, CARTOON COUTURE! This exhibit features original cartoon art as well as costumes from the OSU Historic Costume and Textiles Collection, and traces the history of fashion in cartoons and comics dating back through the 1700s.
The costume theme is DECADES (pick your favorite), but all costumes are encouraged, and cosplay and cartoon characters will always be a good fit for a museum event!
Break out your bell bottoms, fedoras, letter jackets, flapper dresses, or any cartoon-themed costume, and join us for:
- Light refreshments and a cash bar
- A paper doll-making activity
- Curators’ tour at 6 pm
- and more fun surprises
This event is FREE, family-friendly, and open to the public.
Billy Ireland Cartoon Library & Museum holds the world’s largest collection of materials related to comics and cartoons. Open to the public and admission is free. Hours of operation are Tuesday through Sunday from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. Please see website regarding closures for exhibition installations, parking, and more.
