Where to go berry picking in Columbus this Spring and Summer

Whether you prefer one type of berry or love them all (like I do), there are so many farms to go berry picking in Columbus and Central Ohio.

U-pick berry farms are a must-do summer activity, and below you’ll find a huge list of u-pick farms for strawberries, raspberries, blueberries, blackberries, and other fruits near Columbus. 

Crop availability at all farms can vary due to weather and crowds, so call before you go to find out if u-pick is available.

How and when to pick berries in Columbus

New to berry picking? Look low and towards the back of berry plants and bushes. People tend to pick the ones that are the easiest to see, so if you are able to stoop down and look under the leaves, you’ll find more berries.

When can you pick different fruits and berries in Columbus? This is a general guide, and projected dates are listed below.

• Strawberries: Late May – Early June (continuous for everbearing patches)
• Raspberries: Early/mid June through early July, some varieties through October. 
• Black Raspberries: Mid-June through early July, some varieties have additional fall crop. Note that some black raspberries have thorns on the plants, so be cautious if taking children to pick.
• Blueberries: June through July, depending on varieties
• Blackberries: Early July through August
• Cherries: Mid-June through early July
• Peaches: July through September, depending on variety.

U-pick strawberry farms in Columbus

Strawberry season can be a short as 2 weeks, so make sure you make plans to pick when they are ready! Some places requires appointments to pick. Weather highly influences ripening, so please use the links to verify crop availability.

Hann’s Farm Market

Strawberries: U-pick strawberries should be ready by mid-May! Offering u-pick peas and other vegetables through the growing season.
Details for U-Pick! You must call, or check the Facebook page to see if the patch it open on any given day. The market will have prepicked berries. No reservations need to pick.

Doran’s Farm Market

Mitchell’s Meadow: Visit the wildflower meadow starting in late July. The field should be available for a couple of weeks, depending on bloom.

The Berry Farm

Pleasantview Produce

formally Granny B. Farms, 7201 Tucker Rd, Centerburg, OH 43011. Organic-certified farm. Days/hours tba with new owners. The new owners are an Amish family and they are not on social media. We can’t confirm their u-pick offerings. If anyone knows, please leave a comment! Typically offered strawberries and blueberries.

Cherries in Columbus and Central Ohio

Several farms take orders for pitted sour cherries but the bucket ordered from Michigan or other areas. These orders typically need to be placed by July and arrive in mid-July.

Branstool Orchards

Peaches: 20 varieties of peaches. Orchard is open to picking every day of the week and the hours are 10am-4pm on Sunday, and 9am-5pm Monday through Saturday. Peaches expected to open in mid-July. Photo-worthy scenery too!
Apples: 40 varieties of apples from Late July-October
