How and when to pick berries in Columbus
New to berry picking? Look low and towards the back of berry plants and bushes. People tend to pick the ones that are the easiest to see, so if you are able to stoop down and look under the leaves, you’ll find more berries.
When can you pick different fruits and berries in Columbus? This is a general guide, and projected dates are listed below.
- Strawberries: Late May – Early June (continuous for everbearing patches)
- Raspberries: Early/mid June through early July, some varieties through October.
- Black Raspberries: Mid-June through early July, some varieties have additional fall crop. Note that some black raspberries have thorns on the plants, so be cautious if taking children to pick.
- Blueberries: June through July, depending on varieties
- Blackberries: Early July through August
- Cherries: Mid-June through early July
- Peaches: July through September, depending on variety.

Strawberry season can be a short as 2 weeks, so make sure you make plans to pick when they are ready! Some places requires appointments to pick. Weather highly influences ripening, so please use the links to verify crop availability.

We can’t confirm their u-pick offerings. If anyone knows, please leave a comment! Typically offered strawberries and blueberries.
Cherries in Columbus and Central Ohio
Several farms take orders for pitted sour cherries but the bucket ordered from Michigan or other areas. These orders typically need to be placed by July and arrive in mid-July.
