Catch BalletMet Dorothy and the Prince of Oz this February

Dorothy and the Prince of Oz returns to BalletMet after the debut in 2018. Choreographed by BalletMet’s Artistic Director Edwaard Liang, the story is described like a family-friendly sequel to The Wizard of Oz.

You can catch the performance at Ohio Theatre from February 10-12, 2023, which makes it a perfect early Valentine’s Day date!

“We are so excited to bring back Dorothy and the Prince of Oz for the second time,” said BalletMet Artistic Director Edwaard Liang. “It is its own story—completely different from the Wizard of Oz—and that’s what makes it so fun. Most people know the story of the Wizard, but not many know what happened after that story concluded. This ballet tells that story.”

Featuring life-sized puppetry by Basil Twist and fantastical costumes, Dorothy and the Prince of Oz follows Dorothy as she is summoned by Glinda the Good Witch to help save the Kingdom of Oz.

Along the way, Dorothy falls in love with the Prince and as she tries to break a spell cast on him, a battle ensues putting Oz and the Prince in jeopardy.
