Mansfield, Ohio is the place to be during the last week of August this year. The week is full of fun with vintage planes of the Air Power History Tour, Mansfield Airport Day, classic cars, and country music.
The action gets rolling when the rare and massive WWII planes of the Air Power History Tour fly into Mansfield Lahm Regional Airport. The Final Friday live concert at the Brickyard and the Heart of the City Cruise-In round out the weekend fun.
Air Power History Tour
August 24-28, 2022
The sights, sounds and stories of World War II aviation fly into the airport as the AirPower History Tour brings five of the era’s most important aircraft the main terminal ramp. Visit these rare and massive WWII planes daily from 9 am – 5 pm at the Mansfield Lahm Regional Airport.
Enjoy cockpit tours and scheduled airplane rides. The planes that will be on site are:
B-29 Superfortress FIFI
B-24 Liberator Diamond Lil
P-51 Mustang Gunfighter
T-6 Texan
PT-13 Boeing Stearman
Access is $20 for adults, $10 for youths age 11-17, and free for kids age 10 and under. Price includes free B-29 & B-24 cockpit tour when the aircraft is available. Admission is included with proof of purchased rides. See details and tickets.
The CAF is a non-profit educational organization dedicated to honoring American military aviation history by keeping these majestic aircraft flying and through exhibition and remembrance.
Final Fridays Concert in the Brickyard
Friday, Aug. 26, 2022 in the historic downtown Mansfield’s Carrousel District. ,
All-country line-up includes Jose Sanchez, Tom’s Kitchen Table, and County Line, who take the Brickyard stage at 5:30 p.m.
Bring chairs and blankets to this popular outdoor arts and cultural venue to enjoy live music, plus local craft beer, and food trucks.
It’s a great chance to visit the Brickyard, which has transformed from an old industrial district to a downtown cultural center with a live music stage, farmers markets and pop-up shops.
Mansfield Lahm Airport Day
Check out the updated Mansfield Lahm Airport on Saturday, Aug. 27 from 9 a.m. – 3 p.m.
There will be free Young Eagles Flights for attendees age 8-13, intended to spark interest in aviation.
Registration for these limited flights is recommended and opens at 1 p.m. Aug. 19 at yeday.org.
A Food Truck Rally will host nearly a dozen different offerings, while the special KidsZone bounce houses and interactive inflatables are staffed by members of the Civil Air Patrol. An area showcasing the businesses of Mansfield Lahm Airport will introduce all that’s new at the airport.
Heart of the City Cruise-In
Saturday, August 27, 2022
The 25th anniversary Heart of the City Cruise-In rolls into downtown Mansfield from noon and runs through 8 p.m. One of the state’s largest car shows, the event features cars, trucks, and vans, competitions with trophies, show favorites, a 50/50 raffle, live music and great food.
Antique and classic cars cruise up SR 13 from Central Park. It costs $15 to enter a car in the show; register at 9 a.m.
